Appearance

The look on this when I cracked the jar was really nice, it opened up to a wet, creamy off white color. The texture was on point too with a smooth, easy to scoop consistency especially after giving it a little whip.

The jar art was dope as well. The top sticker had “Real Deal Resin” on it with a cool design and in that classic font they always use, but this time with “Valley Grove” underneath since it’s a collab. The wraparound label stood out with a design featuring a goddess draped in a robe that reads “Invictus Sol – Unconquered Sun”, with a colorful sun also on the wraparound. I saw Real Deal Resin mention to someone that it was inspired by the Roman worship of the Sun God Sol Invictus, which is a cool touch. I always like creative jar art and this one definitely was

Aroma

The smell on this one honestly caught me off guard, it wasn’t what I’d typically expect from a Tropaya jar. The nose wasn’t true to the name; instead of that loud tropical zesty sweet papaya punch, it came off pretty light and faint.  It was more of a subtle sweet, fruity vibe with just a touch of funk that wasn't loud at all. The aroma was honestly just muted and hard to get much of a nose out of it which was a bit underwhelming.

Taste

The taste on this one didn’t really line up with what id expect from a Tropaya jar just like the nose. The terp profile tasted nothing like the tropical citrus and heavy papaya influence you’d expect. Instead, it had a light, airy sweetness that came off close to terp less, with a faint earthy note on the backend. Definitely not what I was expecting or looking for some folks might enjoy the more quiet terp profile, but it just wasn’t for me I did appreciate that.

Overall

This was a solid jar from Real Deal Resin  and Valley Grove and was actually my first time trying anything from Valley Grove, and it wasn’t bad at all. I grabbed it mainly because of the Tropicana x Papaya cross, expecting a tropical terp smoothie, but unfortunately, it didn’t deliver on that.

It checked most of the boxes no doubt with just the smell and taste being not true to its name. To me the jar didn’t capture that tropical sweetness or papaya I was hoping for, which made the experience a little underwhelming.

My favorite aspect was probably the appearance with that off white, super clean look and cool Roman jar art. The jar was still solid but if I’m being honest, the jar just didn’t wow me. I think my expectations were too high, but this one didn’t quite hit the mark for me personally. Still, I think a lot of people would enjoy it, but I don’t think I would grab it again.
