Appearance
The appearance of this full melt was excellent and very consistent with the previous jar I had which was amazing. It did come slightly greased up from travel but still looked great. The melt showed a clear color with a subtle ivory tint. To the naked eye, it appeared extremely clean with little to no visible pepper specks but under my phones macro lens, a few more tiny pepper specs could be found, but barely anything. I would say this easily qualifies as a strong five star full melt that comes very close to six star, however many people would consider it to be six star melt. When flagged out before dabbing, it really highlighted just how clean the melt is.
The jar design was also impressive. It came in a clear jar with a gold colored metal lid, topped with a lid sticker featuring the famous woodblock print Fujimigahara in Owari Province by Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai.. The bottom of the jar included an additional sticker with key details such as the name, cross, and micron size.
Aroma
The nose on this jar was nice as well but isn’t overly loud with a more quiet smell to it, it’s definitely noticeable but not jumping out the jar. You’re met with an light earthy kush profile accompanied by slight semi sweet creamy notes.
Taste
The taste on this one was great. It isn’t a loud, mouth coating terp profile, but rather a more of a subtle flavorful experience. At lower temperatures around 480°F–515°F, it delivers a light, airy sweetness paired with an earthy pine, creamy slightly spicy kush backend.. The flavor also remained consistent through most of the dab, only fading slightly at the very end and lingered on the palate with a nice taste.
I also tested it at higher temperatures around 550°F–600°F to see how it handled heat, and it handled it well. It burned clean on the nail while maintaining the flavor, with that light sweet, earthy, creamy pine kush notes that I really enjoyed. It’s a unique profile for sure that you don’t see in most jars. I didn’t pick up much of the sour diesel notes, but that must’ve been in the effects as it hit heavy.
Overall
This was my second time trying Keeping It Coastal, with Salt Water Taffy being my first jar, and I was just as impressed with this one but Salt Water Taffy was more my terp profile. I picked this one up because I wanted something that would hit hard and with a cross like that I figured it would do that and have a unique taste. In the past, the price point has been the main reason I stayed away from this brand as it is very price, but after trying both jars, it’s clear that the quality justifies the price in a way. I’m not saying I agree with the price point but if you decide to grab one of these jars, you won’t be disappointed after paying the high.
This jar checked all the boxes for me. The appearance, aroma, flavor and high were all great with nothing to complain about. The flavor leaned on the more subtle side of things rather than mouthcoating nonetheless it was still very enjoyable. It dabbed extremely smooth almost like water and burned clean on my nail as well. The high was also excellent with an uplifting head effect and easing into a relaxing full body experience.
I enjoyed this jar and there’s no question it was high quality melt, but personally the flavor just wasn’t quite it for me personally. That’s purely just a preference thing because the quality itself is outstanding. I wouldn’t pick this jar up again, not because it was bad, but because I didn’t enjoy the flavor enough to double back on it, especially at the price point. That said, I would absolutely try other jars from this brand as the quality is great. Keeping It Coastal really delivers even though I've only tried two jars so far they were both impressive, and I’m looking forward to trying more from them in the future.
