Appearance
The appearance of this full melt was decent. The melt did come greased up and all the heads were mainly clumped up on one side of the jar with that wet sugar granule look compared to that fresh “beach sand” consistency when processed. The melt also had a rich golden color in parts that the heads clumped up and a light golden color in spots where the melt did not clump as much. To the naked eye, the melt looked very clean, though under my phone’s macro lens I noticed quite a bit of pepper like specks, likely microscopic plant material, broken trichome stalks, or damaged heads. As I mentioned the melt came greased up though rather than holding that fresh “beach sand” consistency that it has when processed. This happens when the product is exposed to warmer conditions for too long. If you didn't know, melt is best stored in freezer conditions around -10°F to 0°F to prevent it from greasing. This jar greased up during transport, where maintaining those freezer cold conditions isn’t always possible but a little grease doesn’t hurt anyone and does not affect how the melt smokes really.
The jar design was fairly simple, featuring a clear, shallow jar with a black lid. It had a top sticker, which was pretty cool, showing a design of a school of yellow tang fish swimming by a reef with the Passion 4 Hashing logo in the center in that graffiti font and the name “Yellow Zu” abbreviated at the top. The jar also had a bottom sticker that was clear to show the melt and also included the collabs in this case Mendoja Farms and Pua Extracts, the sticker also had other information like micron size, soil grown in, weight and pull.
Aroma
The smell is really nice. You instantly get those sweet original zkittlez terps with sweet citrus, tropical fruit, and light creamy notes that everyone loves, followed by a bit of dankness. I couldn’t stop smelling this one, it has a really good nose especially if you love that zkittlez profile for sure and I don’t know many who don’t.
Taste
The taste on this one was very nice and translated very similar to the smell with that original zkittlez terp profile. When dabbing full melt, I like to try it at two different temperature ranges, around 480°F–515°F and then at 550°F–600°F, to see how the terps express themselves at different temps and how the melt handles heat. This strain honestly did not show much contrast in flavor between temperatures and handled heat well, so I won’t go into depth on each temp range. The flavor comes through as a sweet, mouth coating original zkittlez terp with those citrus, tropical fruit, and light buttery cream notes just like the smell and then on the backend, you get some spicy dank kush terps that are not overpowering but add a nice layer of complexity.
Overall
This was a great jar from Passion 4 Hashing and i really enjoyed it i mean who doesn't love a well done zkittlez terp profile. This jar was a collaboration between Passion 4 Hashing, Mendoja Farms and Pua Extractions. Mendoja Farms grew the material and Passion 4 Hashing and Pua Extractions did the hash processing in this collaboration. The jar was labeled “Yellow Zu” short for Yellow Zushi, a strain created by The TENco, who popularized it along with other well known zushi strains. The reason I decided to grab this one is because I’ve always enjoyed Passion 4 Hashing work and have yet to be disappointed by anything I’ve tried from them and also I've been wanting to try yellow zushi in full melt.
If you’re not familiar with Passion 4 Hashing, they’re a hash brand out of Oregon that has been putting out quality hash, offering full melt, fresh press, and cold cure options. They have some single source options in the lineup, but are often known for their collaborations with brands like Archive, Mendoja Farms, Greasy Couture, and CommonWealth Seed Co, and others. They tend to do fairly large drops as well, with this recent drop featuring over 39 different cold cure options, which is impressive since most brands don’t come close to offering that many varieties at once.
I would say this jar basically checked all the boxes. The smell, taste, and effects were all solid, with nothing to complain about. Although the appearance was not the best, nothing to the point where I would complain but when I put my macro up close where quite a bit of pepper specks were present, they didn’t impact the experience, as it dabbed very smooth and clean with no harshness or discomfort. The effects were excellent with a very nice rather potent body high that doesn't take you out but delivers some nice effects.
This was a great jar from Passion 4 Hashing. They definitely did their thing with this one, just some really nice zkittlez terps with a bit of a spicy kush notes on the backend that dabbed super clean and packed a nice punch. I would most definitely grab this jar again, and if you’re a zkittlez lover definitely keep an eye out for this one. Shoutout to Passion 4 Hashing keep killing it!
