The visual appearance of this jar was excellent, opening to a milky white, ivory color with a wet, terpy sheen and noticeable air bubbles across the surface. The rosin looked very clean both to the naked eye and under a macro lens, with no visible contaminants. When I dipped my dab tool in, it had a wet, applesauce like consistency that stayed on the tool without dripping off, though toward the end of the jar it began to dry out into a more crumbly texture that didn’t wanna stay on the tool unless smushed on. It burned very clean on the nail, leaving little to no residue and no burnt appearance.
The jar design was fairly simple, using a shallow black, flat container rather than an authentic black miron jar with the “m” stamped on the bottom, which I would have preferred and may be why the hash dried out toward the end. The jar featured two stickers, one on the top and one on the bottom. The top sticker had a black and yellow holographic color scheme with the Mendoja Farms logo with trees in the background, and since it was a collaboration, it included flying dinosaurs, specifically Pterosaurs, in the sky which was a cool touch. The bottom sticker was gold with black text, displaying the name “Sugar Loaf” in the center, the collaborator “Mendoja Farms” above it, and the micron range listed at the bottom.
Aroma
The nose on this jar is great. As soon as you crack it open, the aroma creeps into your nose like something out of a cartoon, delivering a very sweet, bright tropical citrus profile with layered creamy notes. The sweetness leans toward a rich, ripe pineapple, complemented by a smooth, dessert like terp profile. The nose was really enjoyable and I couldn't stop reaching for it sometimes, not even to dab but just to smell.
Taste
The taste is nice too and translates well from the nose. On the inhale you get those mouth coating sweet ripe pineapple dessert terps with that sweet citrus creamy profile that blends together really nice. I do get a slight nutty taste which comes in and out but its very faint and disappears leaving you with a lingering sweet pineapple taste on the palate for a bit after. The jar aso dabbed really smooth a and clean with no harshness at all which I always enjoy.
Overall
This was my first time trying Dino Squish and I will say I am very impressed with this jar. The reason why i decided to grab this jar is because i've been wanting to try Mendoja Farms Sugar Loaf strain for a while now and also have been wanting to try some of Dino Squish’s work so it was a win win when i saw this one and man was it worth grabbing. What was interesting is that when I seshed with a homie he said it smelled similar to a Mexican sweet yeast bread called Rosca de Reyes. I’ve never had it before, but it was cool hearing that comparison and if it's anything like this sugar loaf I definitely wanna try it.
If you’re not familiar with Dino Squish, he’s a California based hashmaker who started squishing in 2015 and washing in 2012 so he's been in the game for quite some time and has collaborated with respected cultivators like Pure Melt, Symbiotic Genetics, Mendoja Farms, Steady Kushin, and more. What really sets him apart is his refinement process, he filters down to 5µm after drying which is extremely fine compared to the more common 25µm or 37µm screens used to maximize yields, Dino prioritizes cleanliness over volume, emphasizing that the smaller the screen the cleaner the final product, and at 5µm you’re getting filtration that is about five times finer than a typical 25µm screen, resulting in a more refined and contaminant free end product.
This jar easily checked all the boxes, nothing to complain about at all. The looks, smell, taste, and effects were all solid. The jar also dabbed very smooth and clean with no harshness or discomfort and had really nice effects which you get from that gmo in the genetics with a very nice rather potent body high that doesn't take you out but delivers some nice solid effects.
This jar from Dino Squish and Mendoja Farms was great. What i really enjoyed was how sweet the terps came through, there were no GMO terps on the nose or taste at all, which made it really interesting since the GMO only showed up in the effects, while the Red Pop side clearly dominated the flavor and nose, it really shows how dialed Mendoja’s pheno hunting is to have something with zero GMO presence in smell or taste but still delivering it in the high. I would definitely grab this again and am looking forward to trying more from Dino Squish in the future. Shoutout to Dino Squish and Mendoja Farms.
