Appearance
The rosin didn’t look too good at all upon opening. It appeared extremely dry, with a sugary, balled up texture and an orange tint that wasn’t visually appealing which could've been due to this being a slightly older drop but still severely dry nonetheless. When I tried to whip it, it initially crumbled apart making it hard to stir. After whipping the texture improved which is the state shown in the image I used for the review. However even then, when I dipped my dab tool in, it was still very dry, but was much easier to work with compared to how it was right when I opened the jar.
The jar packaging was simple and came in an authentic miron jar, with the “m” stamped on the bottom. The jar art followed a grey color scheme with subtle touches of green and yellow. The top sticker was grey and featured the Pure Organics logo in its signature font, with the collaborator Mountain Organics, listed underneath. The wraparound label matched the grey theme and displayed the name “Super Boof” big in the center in green and yellow lettering. It also included details like the micron range and weight.
Aroma
The nose was loud right away, giving off a sweet, orange citrus forward aroma layered with a noticeable earthy kind of funk. It was a bit different from your typical Superboof, with the funk playing a stronger role than usual.
Taste
The taste was solid overall, with a light, sweet slightly orange citrus zest and some funky notes coming through nicely on the front end before gradually fading. On the backend, it was a bit harsh at most temps, but at lower temperatures the flavor shined more and made the harshness more tolerable compared to hotter temps. The flavor is not that overly orange forward superboof profile you might expect, it has those orange terps slightly but this one leans more into an unusual funk.
Overall
This jar unfortunately wasn’t the best from Pure Organics x Mountain Organics and ended up being my least favorite out of everything I’ve tried from them so far. The reason I decided to try this one is because I have yet to try anything Mountain Organics in rosin so i figured why not give it a try as it's the only collab i have seen from them but sadly i didn't not enjoy. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt since this was an older drop, but from what I know it was stored properly, so that shouldn't be a major factor.
If you’re not familiar with Pure Organics, they’re a California based hash brand with around 14 years of cultivation experience and about 10 years of washing hash. They offer both single source rosin and a range of collaborations like this one with Mountain Organics and many others with respected cultivators like Pure Melt , First Class Concentrates, Symbiotic Genetics ,Willardz , Humble Greenery, and more.
This jar didn’t check all the boxes, and that was clear right from the start. When I opened it, the appearance wasn’t great, opening to a dried up ball that crumbled when I dipped my dab tool instead of having that smooth, easy to scoop texture, which was pretty disappointing. The flavor itself wasn’t bad and actually came through nicely, but there was a noticeable harshness that took away from the overall experience. The nose and effects were solid, so it really came down to the overly dry texture and the harshness being the main drawbacks.
Nonetheless, shoutout to Pure Organics and Mountain Organics. This one was unfortunately a miss for me, and I wouldn’t grab this jar again as the consistency was just too dry, and the harshness was a bit overbearing. The flavor, nose, and high weren’t bad, but overall it just wasn’t a jar that checked all the boxes.
