Appearance

The appearance on the rosin was nice, opening up to a pearl white color with a wet, terpy look. The rosin was visually clean, with no contaminants visible to the naked eye or even under my phone’s macro lens. When I dipped my tool into it, the consistency was also really nice and had a nice wet, terpy texture that was easy to scoop and work with, however over time it did get a bit dry more than likely due to the jar used.

The jar design was simple, with a shallow black, flat container with a gold metal lid rather than an authentic black miron jar with the “m” stamped on the bottom, which I personally would have preferred since they tend to preserve hash better over time. The jar had two stickers, one on the top and one on the bottom. The top sticker had “Sensei” written boldly in orange across the center with the anime character No Face from the 2001 Studio Ghibli film Spirited Away in the background. The bottom sticker also used another No Face background image and included details such as the concentrate form “Cold Cure” at the top, the strain name “Red Lemonz” in the center, the Jah Botanist collab logo toward the bottom, along with the micron range listed underneath.

Aroma

The aroma on this one is nice. It wasn’t super loud immediately when I first cracked the jar, with it almost having little to no distinct smell but after whipping it up a bit and getting a few dabs in the terp profile really started to open up. I got a sweet unique juicy citrus smell with a light cream layer underneath it and it reminds me of chewing Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit gum with that same sweet slightly artificial fruit and citrus smell it releases when chewed but with a tad of cream.

Taste

The flavor on this one was nice and translates alright well from the aroma but it wasn't identical nor was it as pronounced as the smell. It had a light sweet citrus cream taste that was enjoyable, however it was just missing that juicy sweet vibe that I picked up in the aroma which would have made it more enjoyable in my opinion. It also didn’t come through super flavorful and didn't really coat your mouth. It overall just felt more faint compared to the aroma, which was much more sweet and juicy and reminded me of Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit gum with that same unique sweet juicy citrus vibe. It still has good flavor, it just doesn’t carry over as strongly from the aroma which really shines.

Burn/Smoothness

The rosin dabbed clean on the nail leaving behind a light golden translucent color, and not a dark or murky color which would indicate there's quite a bit of contaminants. It also dabbed decently smooth but I wouldn't say the smoothest, it did have a slight bit of discomfort which came out more at hotter temps but nothing serious and honestly many might not notice it. It was still very clean but not like some of the jars I've had from him in the past which dabbed extremely clean.

Effects

The high on this one honestly wasn’t too potent. I was never really too moved from dabbing it unless I took a couple back to back and because of that the jar seemed to go a bit quicker than most. That said, it still provided a light relaxing effect once it settled in, it just lacked the potency I personally look for. Then again I do have a pretty high tolerance, and everyone’s experience and tolerance level will be different.

Overall

This is my fourth time trying something from Sensei Solventless. I had the Lemon Hard Candy and Alien OG collabs with Cuban Grower, Pop Rock Lee with Anudai Farms which were all really nice and what really stood out was the quality, all jars were super clean. The reason I got this jar is because of the genetics I saw “Red Lemonz” on the jar and immediately assumed this was pure melt genetics but turns out it's from Terp Fountain Genetics which was a bit disappointing but completely on me as I should've looked into it more before jumping ship but i didn't mind it too much because i was still trying new genetics either way.

Sensei Solventless is a Cuban hash maker based out of California who has collaborated with a number of well known brands, including Anudai Farms, Cuban Grower, I Love Kush, Ganjah Guru, Bonsai Tree Co, and others. His journey began in 2015 while working as a budtender at a dispensary where he pressed flower rosin at their shop and at home. Then he learned to grow indoor flower in an auto shop for CES who's now Bear Labs. He was there when they were competing and winning some championships and was the one growing their genetics. He then started Sensei Solventless in late 2016 and later connected with a lab in California that was looking for a solventless extractor. He took the opportunity and never looked back.

I would say this jar checked all the boxes for the most part. The appearance, aroma, burn and smoothness.  were all solid but it did lack in the effects and taste. The effects were not too potent and the taste didn’t translate well from the aroma and wasn't too flavorful but wasn't bad at all.

The jar was good overall, but to me it just wasn't very memorable. The flavor was decent, but it never really stood out or delivered the kind of terp intensity I was hoping for, and the potency lacked as well. It dabbed smooth and clean, but not quite as smooth and clean as some of the other jars I've had from Sensei Solventless in the past. For those reasons, I probably wouldn't grab this jar again, but I'm still glad I got the chance to try these Red Lemonz genetics and see what they were like. Sensei did mention that he enjoyed the flavor of the cold cure but felt the fresh press expressed the terps much better, but only a limited amount was produced so it never ended up dropping. It was a good jar of hash but it just wasn't a jar that wowed me enough to come back for another, but it was still cool getting to experience these Red Lemonz genetics as they are new to me. Shoutout to Sensei Solventless and Jah Botanist!
