Appearance

The visual appearance of this jar was great, it opened to a white, ivory color with a wet, terpy look to it with some terp bubbles spread out across the surface. The rosin had a clean look to it both to the naked eye and under a macro lens, with no visible contaminants. When I dipped my dab tool in, it had a wet, stable and easy to scoop consistency that stayed on the tool without dripping off, however towards the end of the jar it began to dry out a bit and turn into a more crumbly texture that you had to smush onto your tool.

The jar design was fairly simple, using a shallow black, flat container rather than an authentic black miron jar with the “m” stamped on the bottom, which I would have preferred and may be why the hash dried out toward the end. The jar featured two stickers, one on the top and one on the bottom. The top sticker had a black and yellow holographic color scheme with a Raptor Dinosaur Fossil watering a small plant pot at the bottom which represents the two brands Dino Squish and Pure Melt in a creative way which was cool. The bottom sticker was gold with black text, displaying the name “Raptor Juice” in the center, the collaborator “Pure Melt” above it, and the micron range listed at the bottom.

Aroma

The aroma is nice and loud with a very sweet rich tropical fruity profile. When I first crack the jar I instantly get hit with sweet tropical citrus notes that come across like a juicy pineapple. I also get a ripe banana sweetness starting to come through which is light and doesn't take away from those sweet fruity citrus notes. The pineapple sweetness is definitely the dominant terp profile, whilst the banana pairs nicely giving iit a bit more depth.

Taste

The taste translated well from the nose but was slightly different, delivering a gassy flavor with those sharp, pungent notes upfront followed by a light natural cherry finish that pairs nicely with the gassy notes. The cherry doesn’t always come out and usually comes out at lower temps and almost obsolete at higher temps. The cherry also come across as a natural light sweet cherry rather than an artificial candy like sweetness. The flavor for the most part is just dominated by those pungent sharp gassy terps with not much cherry really at all. The flavor also lingers nicely on the palate, leaving behind a gassy aftertaste with those cherry notes obsolete. The best way I can describe it is like drenching fresh cherries in gasoline and swirling them around in your mouth before taking a bite, getting those pungent gas terps when swirling, then the natural cherry taste lightly emerges when you bit in and then they disappear leaving you a lingering gas flavor.

Burn/Smoothness

The rosin dabbed clean on the nail leaving behind a light golden translucent color, and not a dark or murky color which would indicate there's quite a bit of contaminants. It also dabbed smooth and clean with little to no background noise even when testing out higher temps which was really nice but it wasn't quite the smoothest.

Effects

The effects were nice and decently potent, with a nice head and body high. It delivered solid effects but it wasn't overly potent or anything. I found myself enjoying this one more during the day as it provided a nice high without taking me out.

Overall

This was my second time having a Dino Squish jar, with the first being Sugar Loaf cultivated by Pure Melt, and this one was solid as well. When I cracked it open for the first time, it smelled surprisingly similar to the Sugar Loaf, which I found pretty funny because while the strains are completely different genetics they shared some similarities, but still noticeably different in their own ways. The main reason I decided to grab this jar was because I had Banana Meltshake #6 from West Coast Alchemy a couple years ago and remember really enjoying it, so when I saw this had Banana Meltshake #6 in the genetics and that it was cultivated by Pure Melt just like that West Coast Alchemy jar, I figured it was worth snagging and giving it a try.

Dino Squish is a California based hashmaker who started squishing in 2015 and washing in 2012 so he's been in the game for quite some time and has collaborated with respected cultivators like Pure Melt, Symbiotic Genetics, Mendoja Farms, Steady Kushin, and more. What really sets him apart is his refinement process, he filters down to 5µm after drying which is extremely fine compared to the more common 25µm or 37µm screens used to maximize yields, Dino prioritizes cleanliness over volume, emphasizing that the smaller the screen the cleaner the final product, and at 5µm you’re getting filtration that is about five times finer than a typical 25µm screen, resulting in a more refined and contaminant free end product.

This jar checked most of the boxes but not all. The appearance, aroma, taste, burn and effects were all solid. However the jar did lack slightly in the smoothness category not that it was harsh but it just wasn’t as clean as the previous jar I had with just a slight bite on the backend that most might not even notice and it more so just present when dabbing at higher temps. The taste was also not as intense as the aroma which was a bit of a letdown but it was still flavorful so no complaints really there just wish it was as intense as the aroma.

This jar from Dino Squish x Pure Melt was solid all around and I enjoyed it. What surprised me was how similar yet different the profile was compared to the last jar I got from this brand, but that's just the way she goes. Hopefully next time I grab something with a different terp profile and see how it's expressed compared to these sweeter fruity ones. This one was on a similar level quality wise to the last jar I had from them, but it did lack a bit in comparison. It wasn't quite as smooth and had a very slight bit of discomfort, but it wasn't too noticeable and didn't affect the flavor. I wouldn't run this one back as the terp profile was honestly too similar to that Sugar Loaf I previously tried, which I enjoyed more as it was smoother, more flavorful, delivered better effects, and was just the better jar overall in my opinion. That said, I'd still recommend people give this one a try as the terp profile is really nice, especially if you're into overly sweet fruity pineapple citrus flavors with some subtle banana notes. Shoutout to Dino Squish and Pure Melt!
